Wanted killer shot by police and 4 suspects arrested for murder of teen boy
SANTA ANA – The neighborhood near Monte Vista Elementary School and Jerome Park saw two violent incidents this weekend that resulted in two deaths and four arrests.
On Friday 6/21, Santa Ana police officers were called to a residence on the 600 block of South Townsend. According to a Santa Ana Police press release, the officers found a 14-year-old boy suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back. He was rushed to the emergency room but did not survive the day. Acting on leads, Santa Ana PD homicide detectives obtained and served several search warrants and made four arrests, 3 adults and one juvenile. Armand Carachure, Fernand Cuevas, and Lui Gaytan, along with an unidentified juvenile, all of Santa Ana, were arrested. All were booked in suspicion of homicide. It is unconfirmed, but speculated that this was a gang related attack.
Meanwhile, on Sunday morning at 8 am, two officers were on patrol just two blocks from Friday night’s murder, at the 800 block of South Townsend. In an alleyway bordering apartments and homes, they encountered a woman with a firearm, who confronted them. The woman was shot in the encounter, and taken into custody to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. The officers found what they described as a replica firearm near her. She died before 9 am while undergoing treatment.
This morning the Orange County Coroner’s office identified the woman as 35-year-old Jessica Gonzalez. At the time of the shooting, Gonzalez was wanted in connection with the death of 44-year-old Jennifer Roberta Solario last Thursday afternoon. The Orange Police reported that on that day, at 3:30 pm, officers had been called to the 2000 block of Palmyra Avenue on reports of a shooting. Like the others in this story, she was transported to a local emergency room, and died while under treatment. Detectives at the time were able to identify Gonzalez as a suspect, describing her as 5’5″, 90 pounds and wearing black sweatpants and a long sleeved black shirt.
Detectives at the time did not clarify the relationship or possible motive for the shooting, but the OC Weekly has reported that neighbors in the apartment complex stated that the women were life partners who had lived together there for ten years or more. They also reported a history of domestic disputes, and a witness claimed to have seen Gonzalez kick the wounded Solario as she lay on the sidewalk before fleeing.
Records also show that Gonzalez had been previously arrested last year in San Bernardino for drug charges, and just a month ago, on May 29th, for burglary in Santa Ana. Some have speculated that the shooting death of Ms. Gonzalez was an incidence of “suicide by cop” when she brandished a harmless gun replica, inviting their response.
