Oceanside Man Attacks Mother’s Boyfriend with Knife
OCEANSIDE — Jimmy Godsey (28) of 543 North Sunnybrook Drive had quite the Sunday, after what began as a verbal altercation with his mother’s boyfriend landed him in custody for slashing the man’s neck. Later, awaiting arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead, he stood to face the charges of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say the initial incident occurred earlier that morning, around 45 minutes after midnight, at the home Godsey shares with his mother and her boyfriend. Godsey was asked by the boyfriend not to enter his mother’s bedroom, spurring an argument between him and the boyfriend.
The situation escalated when the two began pushing one another, at which point Godsey left the room and returned with a black handheld folding knife. He then slashed the boyfriend on the right side of his neck and fled.
Shortly after, however, he returned and surrendered to authorities. His mother’s boyfriend was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of his injury, which turned out to be non-life-threatening.
