Meth Sting Ends in Two Arrests
BAKERSFIELD — Two men are in jail as a result of a lengthy undercover investigation into the trafficking of large amounts of methamphetamine in Kern County.

34-year-old Jorge Guevara and 45-year-old Jerardo Villareal, both of Arvin, have been booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield after authorities seized 18 pounds of packaged methamphetamine worth an estimated street value of $817,200.
Guevara was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and conspiracy, while Villareal was booked on charges for possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy, and resisting arrest.
Their bail has been set at $500,000.
The month-long, multi-agency effort led by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit that began in early June came to an end on June 26, when Guevara and Villareal attempted to sell packaged methamphetamine to an undercover detective in the parking lot of a business in the 2600 block of Panama Lane in south Bakersfield.
Both men were arrested during the sting operation.
“Officers found 17 pounds of packaged methamphetamine in the men’s possession,” a sheriff’s spokesman said.
A search warrant was served later at Guevara’s home on the 1900 block of Flores Court in Arvin, where authorities said detectives found an additional pound of methamphetamine and evidence of narcotics sales.
