Two Arrested in Tulare’s Man’s Death
TULARE – Tulare police detectives have arrested two men for the murder of a 69-year-old man on Friday.
The Tulare S.W.A.T. team was able to capture and arrest 19-year-old Brandon McDuffie and 18-year-old Christopher Long, both of Tulare, on Saturday morning.
The men are accused of murdering 69-year-old Manuel Alves of Tulare. On Friday, patrol officers with the Tulare Police Department received a call about suspicious circumstances at a home in the 1500 block of Juliet Avenue, near Denair and Lamar streets.
When they checked the scene, officers found Alves unconscious inside the home. Medical personnel called to the scene determined that Alves had died. Detectives stayed at the scene for more than 5 hours investigating and determined that Alves’ death was a homicide.
Early Saturday morning, members of the Tulare Police S.W.A.T. team a served search warrant at a home on the same street where Alves’ house was located. They were able to arrest Long at this location. They served a second search warrant at a house only a block away on Oakland, and were able to take McDuffie into custody.
McDuffie has been charged on suspicion of murder and Long has been charged on suspicion of being an accessory to murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
This was the second murder in Tulare so far this year. The first one took place on March 30 when a 63-year-old man was shot and killed.
