First Rocklin Murder in 6 Years Occurs, Arrest Made
ROCKLIN – On Saturday, July 13 at approximately 10:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6200 block of Swan Court regarding a 9-1-1 call reporting a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, police discovered a 51-year-old male inside the residence with a bleeding chest wound. An AMR ambulance crew transferred the subject to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center where died shortly thereafter. The victim is identified as Robert Earl Vickney, Jr. He resided in Rocklin at the location where the stabbing occurred.
Further investigation by detectives revealed that there had been a party at the Swan Court home–during the party, the victim got into an argument with a 20-year-old male. The pair allegedly participated in a physical altercation and the victim was then stabbed in his chest with a knife.
Detectives determined that Rocklin resident, 20-year-old Zachary Raymond Kachmar, was the responsible. He was booked into the Placer Counter Jail on charges of homicide, and is being held without bail.
Rocklin police are still examining the case. There has not been a homicide in Rocklin since 2007.
