Placer County sheriff's deputy arrested — again
ROSEVILLE — For the second time in recent months, a Placer County sheriff’s deputy found himself behind bars.John Caliguire was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of violating probation while on duty as a bailiff at Roseville’s Bill Santucci Justice Center.
The 49-year-old deputy had been placed on probation on Feb. 26 after agreeing to plead to a charge of driving under the influence, stemming from a Nov. 8 arrest by the Rocklin Police Department. Court records show Caliguire’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit during the November incident.
According to Placer County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Ausnow, Caliguire’s supervisor determined Caliguire displayed “objective signs of intoxication” while on duty March 24, which led to the most recent arrest.
“Caliguire was immediately relieved of duty, taken to (the county jail at Auburn) and booked,” Ausnow added.
Booking information alleges that the deputy’s blood alcohol level on Wednesday measured just over the legal limit. According to the terms of his probation, he is not to use any alcohol.
Ausnow said there is an ongoing investigation to see how Caliguire got to work Wednesday, which could lead to an additional charge of driving under the influence.
Caliguire is free on $10,000 bail.
