After a stop for a traffic violation Thursday night, Santa Maria Police arrested and charged a Santa Maria man with possession for sale and transportation of 17 ounces of methamphetamine, some ecstacy pills and a small amount of marijuana in his car.
Police estimated the street value of the drugs to be $48,000. They also arrested his passenger, who was wanted on two felony warrants.
Jorge Armando Herrera, 28, of Santa Maria, and Selene Chavez, 28, of Tanglewood, were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. Herrera’s bail was set at $80,000 and he was also charged with a parole violation.
