INGLEWOOD, CA—It was a real life video game outside a library that didn’t carry the Rockstar version.
Yvonne Hernandez and an unnamed person that was apparently related to the incident were apprehended outside the Inglewood Public Library at 100 W. Manchester on Tuesday, December 17 around 12 noon. The charge was grand theft auto.
Only Hernandez was ultimately arrested. The unknown male was frisked and released—but not before a lengthy conversation with a group of undercover and uniformed Inglewood police officers.
“Hey, you sound like you know about Gardena gangs,” said the male as he sat handcuffed on the ground. The statement was apparently made after one of the undercover officers asked about the male’s tattoos on his arms.
Asked to comment on the developing incident, one of the undercover officers—identified by the police badge hanging around his neck but not photographed—said, “She tried to take it while the owner was in the county office.” The officer insisted on not being named.
Hernandez, 21, was charged with Grand Theft Auto. The 5-foot, two-inch woman, a resident of the 3300 block of West 104th Street in Inglewood, claimed to be unemployed. Bail was set at $35,000.
Unsuccessfully sought for comment, it was ultimately unknown if she will have any role in the next installment of the popular video game marketed by the company, Rockstar Games.
