The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office have two people in custody for conspiring and attempting to smuggle narcotics into SLO County Jail.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy working at the jail intercepted a greeting card sent to one of the jailed inmates. The deputy discovered a white powdery substance wrapped in plastic hidden between sections of the card. Upon testing, it was discovered the substance was methamphetamine.
However, no arrests were made at time. Deputies wanted to investigate the incident further to discover the source.
Samantha Long
The inmate’s name was Samantha Jo Long, 29, of Pismo Beach. Long was in jail for an unrelated matter and was soon released.
The sheriff’s narcotics unit identified Jason Todd Hunter, 44, also of Pismo Beach as the suspect who allegedly sent the greeting card to Long.
Both suspects were located by investigators at a Pismo Beach motel where they were served with arrest warrants. The two were placed in custody and deputies discovered two ounces of meth and drug paraphernalia in the room.
The two suspects were charged with bringing/sending a controlled substance to jail, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
