BORON — A wanted felon from Los Angeles County was arrested on Friday after deputies discovered weapons inside a home in the middle of the Mojave desert.
James Nunez was booked into the Kern County Sheriffs Mojave Jail on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, being in possession of ammunition and being in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on an outstanding felony arrest warrant from Los Angeles County.
Ray Pruitt, Public Information Officer from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies from the Boron Substation conducted a narcotics investigation of home located in the 26800 block of Cote Street in Boron on Jan 22. “Deputies said that during their investigation it was discovered that the suspect, 35-year-old Nunez was living in the residence and was a wanted on outstanding warrants issued in Los Angeles County,” Pruitt said.
When deputies executed the search warrant, Pruitt added, they said they found Nunez hiding inside of a bedroom closet. “During a search of Nunez’ bedroom,” Pruitt said. “A loaded firearm and additional ammunition were found.”
Nunez was taken into custody without incident. His bail has been set at $50,000, but he is being held on no bail for the warrant.
