SAN JOSE – A complaint was filed on Friday, February 21 regarding 29-year-old Reza Mashayekhi for vandalism under PC 594 (a)/(b) (2) (A) of less than $100 dollars. Charges also included the sounding of a false fire alarm under PC 148.4(a) (2).
On Friday the San Jose Fire Dept. had responded to the Berryessa Library located at 3355 Noble Ave, in the Eastern part of San Jose. Upon the arrival of the Fire dept. it was apparent that someone had falsely pulled the alarm. The SJFD responded by contacting investigators with the SJPD. When Officers arrived they found Mashayekhi standing outside in front of the library doors. It was reported that Mashayekhi had taken a large rock and threw it through the glass pane in the front sliding glass door. Workers at the library reported that Mashayekhi was arguing with patrons and appeared to be mentally ill when he entered the facility.

Mashayekhi throughout the week had been contacted by officers and arrested three times for vandalism. On Thursday, February 6, Mashayekhi was located in the front parking lot where he was had set his spare tire on fire near his vehicle in the front of the library. Then again on February 7, he broke the front window near the book return. Mashayekhi was then arrested on February 13 for breaking another window, this time a small pane inside the glass sliding door. A worker upset about his return throughout the week responded to officers by saying, “He’s going to burn it down, you have to keep him in”.
Mashayeki was arrested for each incident. However this did not stop him from continuing to vandalize the library once he was released. Mashayeki was taken to a local mental health facility for a mental health evaluation. He is expected to face vandalism charges for throwing the rock through the library windows and pulling the fire alarm. Mashayehi in the meantime has been re-released from the Main Jail and is expected to appear in Santa Clara Superior Court for all three incidents.
