Deputies Seize Large Amounts of Heroin and Assault Weapons

BAKERSFIELD — A 20-year old man and his young co-conspirator were arrested on Wednesday night after deputies discovered large amounts of heroin and assault weapons at a home in southwest Bakersfield.

Jesus Sital was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility on numerous weapons and drug-related charges, including possession of an assault weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a bullet proof vest by a felon, possession of a silencer, possession of high capacity magazines and possession of heroin for the purpose of sales.

His bail has been set at $320,000.

A 17-year-old male was also booked into juvenile hall on an outstanding warrant.

According to the sheriff’s department, the arrests occurred on March 19, at approximately 8:30 p.m., when deputies from the Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Section went to a residence in the 6400 block of Green Garden Drive.

While at the residence deputies contacted Sital and then conducted a search of  his home.

“During the search, deputies discovered over one and quarter pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of over $62,000, along with a bullet proof vest, an SKS assault rifle and a .45 caliber Mac 10 machine pistol with a silencer,” sheriff’s public information officer Ray Pruitt said. “Deputies also uncovered an AR-15 custom assault rifle and a modified “zip gun.”

Besides the weapons, there were also several high-capacity magazines, including thousands of rounds of ammunition.
