ARVIN — Three people were arrested last Friday for running an illegal marijuana growing operation in a rural mountain area southeast of the City of Arvin.
Artemio Alvarez, a 38-year-old Bakersfield resident was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, cultivation of marijuana and trespassing, while Madera residents; 36-year-old Juan Sosa and 47-year-old Felipe Vazquez were arrested for cultivation of marijuana, conspiracy, and trespassing.
All three suspects were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
The arrests were the culmination of a month long investigation into the pot farm, which was operating on a privately owned ranch.
As a result, a search warrant was issued and served in the early morning hours on April 25, by the kern County SWAT team and members of the HIDTA narcotics task force.
During the raid, officers said they discovered two separate gardens, which were located less than one mile apart, along with a pair of shotguns, one .44 Magnum firearm and approximately 1,800 marijuana plants.
