A Roseville man was reportedly arrested in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist injured on the side of the road, according to an official press release from the Roseville Police Department.
Alan Ryan Cassell, 24, of Roseville was reportedly arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving under the influence causing injury, and as of May 31, was being held in the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail.
Cassell was driving on this road when he struck the bicyclist.
According to Roseville PD, on Saturday, May 31, at 2:28 am, Roseville PD and Roseville Fire personnel responded to a report of a man laying in the gutter on southbound Foothills Boulevard between Marcia Way and McAnally Drive. Officers reportedly found the 24-year-old injured man with a badly damaged bicycle nearby. The victim was reportedly transported to the hospital where he was reportedly listed in critical by stable condition.

With the help of a witness, officers reportedly found out the bicyclist had been riding northbound in the southbound lane of Foothills Boulevard when he was struck by a 2001 Ford pick-up truck traveling southbound. The pick-up driver reportedly drove away without stopping to help the victim. Officers were reportedly able to contact the pick-up driver — later identified as Cassell — at his home in Roseville and arrested him.
News 10 has reported that Cassell was with a friend when he hit the bicyclist. That friend was said to have come back to the scene, and admitted to police that they had been drinking and that Cassell was the driver.
