Woman arrested in second domestic violence this year

FORT BRAGG – A Saturday night call to a Fort Bragg home resulted in the second arrest this year of a woman charged with assaulting a man.

According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies were sent to a home on Pearl Drive in Fort Bragg, located in the wooded area inland of Highway 1. The caller reported a fight between a man and woman. Upon arrival, they found 50-year-old Susan Brown at her home, and an unidentified 51-year-old man outside a few hundred yards away.

The story they gathered at the scene was that the man, who was dating Brown, had come to her home to pick up some of his things. It was not clear if he was breaking off the relationship, but the encounter led to an argument that became physical. Brown told them the the man had slapped her in the head. She then grabbed her folding knife and tried to stab him.

The incident occurred at a home in the wooded area of Fort Bragg on Pearl Road.

The man incurred minor injuries as he fought her off, but showed the deputies an injury on his leg that he claimed was from Ms. Brown stabbing him just a few weeks prior. In February, Brown was also arrested on a domestic violence charge, along with obstructing a peace officer, and a probation violation. It has not been clarified if the victim was the same man as in this case.

The deputies determined that Brown was intoxicated, and believed the evidence supported her being the primary aggressor in the fight. She was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and probation revocation. Bail was set at $35,000.00. Brown has also been arrested twice for DUI, in December 2010 and April 2011.
