In the classic rock lyrics of Styx’s “Renegade”, “the jig is up, the noose is out” and the embarrassment and political fallout landing at the feet of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff immediately following the April 5th events officially referred to as a “civil disturbance” continue to yield arrests and jail bookings.
Pursuant to the ongoing investigation of the chaos that took place in Isla Vista, SBSD deputies have arrested no less than 470 individuals on a wide spectrum of charges, many of them involving violence against uniformed deputies—six of whom were injured while attempting to quell illegal behavior and prevent wanton property destruction.

According to a July 16th report to the media by SBSD Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, the law enforcement work pursuant to the events of that Spring Break evening is far from over and continues to bear fruit. Since April 5th, an additional eight suspects have been arrested in locations as diverse as South Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Most notable among those are Geddy Miller, 19, allegedly the individual recorded on video “jumping on top of the white UCLA van” which was subsequently destroyed by the rampaging Isla Vista mob, and Arron Cozza, a 19-year-old from Arroyo Grande who was “documented on video pulling a stop sign out of the ground.”
The suspect most recently tracked down is Agustin Guerrero, a 23-year-old resident of Oxnard, who was located at his place of work on July 11th and arrested for felony vandalism and inciting a riot. Pursuant to a warrant search of his residence and the discovery of evidence connecting him to a video recording depicting Guerrero in the act of hurling a rock “at a white van owned by UCLA”, Guerrero was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the aforementioned charges with his bail set at $50,000.

According to Hoover, “detectives continue to seek additional suspects who participated in the civil unrest,” indicating that, as Styx’s lyrics may soon ring with the truth that “the jig is up, the news is out, they’ve finally found me…”
