Detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office reportedly have recently arrested one burglary suspect and are currently actively seeking two more suspects, according to an official press release.

Michael Anthony Potter, 20, of Sacramento was reportedly arrested on numerous charges including burglary, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, evading officers, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
According to Placer County Sheriff, on Thursday, July 31, at 5:55 am, a Sheriff’s detective noticed suspicious vehicle leaving Blue Stone Jewelry, 495 North Lake Boulevard, in Tahoe City at a high rate of speed. The detective reportedly attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle sped away. The detective reportedly pursued the vehicle with lights and siren for about four miles, then the vehicle reportedly slowed down and two male passengers jumped out of the vehicle and ran off.
Potter was captured near this part of Highway 89. His friends were let off a short time before.
Eventually the vehicle reportedly stopped near Alpine Meadows Road and S/R 89 and the driver — later identified as Potter — was taken into custody. Potter was reportedly found to be in possession of stolen jewelry and a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest. Further investigation reportedly showed Blue Stones Jewelry’s window had been smashed and a large amount of jewelry had been taken, valued at several thousand dollars. The vehicle used in the crime was reportedly stolen from a nearby neighborhood.
Potter has himself had previous run-ins with law enforcement. He was arrested in December of last year for possession of a controlled substance, and just last month, June 26, for possession for sale of narcotics. Both those occurred in Sacramento, according to records.
Records of earlier arrests for either him, and/or his father (same name and address) date back to 2008, and include disorderly conduct, burglary, and possession of stolen property.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating the two additional suspects. They are asking anyone who was in the area of S/R 89 and Rampart around 6 pm Thursday and may have seen or provided a ride for two male subjects — both dressed in all black clothing — to contact Sheriff’s Detective John Riella at 530-581-6325.
