INGLEWOOD, CA—How many charges can a single flash of the blade bring?
For Frederick Blaylock, 29, the answer appears to be no fewer than four. The unemployed Inglewood resident was arrested by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers on Monday, August 18 at approximately 10:15 p.m. He was apparently stopped at the corner of North La Brea Avenue and West Hazel Street in Inglewood, a couple of blocks north of Florence and several blocks from his residence on the 900 block of North Centinela Avenue.
He was charged with threatening a crime with intent to terrorize (422PC), exhibiting a deadly weapon that was not a firearm (417(A)(1)PC), obstructing/resisting/etc a police officer (148(A)(1)PC) and carrying a switchblade (21510(B)PC).
The area is notorious for gang activity and multiple murders. Many of the 32 unsolved shooting homicides that have taken place in Inglewood since April, 2013 have taken place there. There is an unprecedented city-wide gang injunction that went into place at around the same time.
Bail was set at $85,500. The smallest amount was a $500 bail for carrying a switchblade.
