According to a police report, on August 28, around 3:45 p.m., the Torrance Police received a call from a woman saying that she had been raped.
The victim, who happens to be a stripper, said that she and the suspect had met at a residence in Torrance. The suspect falsely identified himself as an undercover police officer, and then proceeded to rape her. He then fled from the scene. The victim was able to provide a description of the man’s vehicle.
About 8 hours after the incident, CHP officers located the suspect’s vehicle near King City, in central/coastal California, about 270 miles away. They attempted to stop the car, but he fled, and continued the chase until he stopped in Soledad, a little further north. The suspect has been detained in custody and identified as Guy Dietz, 43, who is a convicted sex offender.
The victim, identified as Desiree Patton, 27, spoke out. According to KTTV Los Angeles, “Patton says she wants everyone to know what she says happened to her. How she was hurt, bruised and forcibly raped at a home in Torrance.” Patton claims that Dietz was really good at convincing her that he was an undercover cop. She felt the only way she could be safe was to let him do whatever he wanted.
Patton says her reason for telling the public about the sexual assault was because “So many women have been abused and raped and stuff like that. And, I don’t want to be another quiet person. I want this guy to get the maximum penalty.”
Dietz’s previous sexual assault was in 1998, when he was convicted of rape. He was later released in 2003.
