SACRAMENTO—Sacramento detectives are investigating whether the discovery of a body is linked to a shooting reported nearby in a South Sacramento neighborhood. The victim was identified Wednesday, September 10 as 44-year-old Amando Gonzales.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received multiple calls around 11:00 a.m. the day before on Tuesday, September 9 regarding multitude of shots fired in an area near Stevenson Avenue and Golden Meadow Drive.
Deputies responded and found several cars with fresh bullet holes on the outside. No victims were immediately located.
Approximately 45 minutes later, a waste management worker reported seeing Gonzales slumped over inside a vehicle in the 7900 block of Springarden Way, about one block from where the bullet-riddled cars were located.
Deputies confirmed that the man inside the car, Gonzales was dead from one bullet wound to his body. Deputies are unsure of the motive at this time or who is responsible for the shooting, but they do believe Gonzales’ death is a homicide. An investigation is still underway.
