Two suspects were arrested in recent arrests that occurred in the Central Roseville area, north of the railyard, according to an official weekly crime report issued by the Roseville Police Department.
At about 1 am on Saturday, November 15, officers reportedly stopped someone riding a bicycle on Sierra Street near Yosemite Street, and found evidence of methamphetamine sales. Josef Holguin Ortega, 34 and an area transient, was reportedly arrested on various drug-related charges.
Ortega was arrested in August of this year for burglary and possession of burglar’s tools after he had been seen checking parked cars for open doors, and was found inside one of them. At that time, Ortega listed a Roseville address on Chilton Drive as his home. He was also charged in 2010 with grand theft and conspiracy, and with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.
Later that day, at about 4:16 pm, a man reportedly approached a 10-year-old boy at Kaseberg Park in a threatening manner, forcibly grabbing his mountain bicycle from him and rode away on it. The boy’s 19-year-old neighbor was also in the park, and the boy told him what happened. The neighbor reportedly chased the suspect and yelled at him that police were on the way. Officers reportedly arrived at the park and the suspect turned around and gave the boy his bike back.
Matthew Ray Espinoza, 24, of Auburn was arrested on suspicion of robbery and an outstanding warrant for obstructing an officer.
