BAKERSFIELD – A 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after going onto a northwest Bakersfield High School campus with a knife.
Joshua Andrews, of Bakersfield , was booked into the Kern County Jail for resisting arrest, possession of a knife on a school campus, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, burglary and two outstanding felony warrants.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident began at around 11:30 a.m. on March 18, when officers were called out to deal with a suspect that had trespassed onto the Frontier High School campus.
Prior to their arrival, campus police confronted Andrews near the school’s bike rack where they questioned him and recovered a pocket knife on his person.
It was then that Andrews allegedly got into a scuffle with officers, before running away on foot.
Around three hours later, Bakersfield Police officers were called out to investigate a suspicious person hiding between two air conditioning units in the backyard of a residence in the 12700 block of Montbatton Place.
When officers arrived, they found Andrews and arrested him. It was also discovered that Andrews had broken into a residence during the course of eluding capture.
