Rookie Dog Thwarts Robbery Ring

Police Canine Bo scored his very first suspect in the hills of Glendora last night. After being pepper-sprayed, then thrown down a steep ravine while grabbing the arm of one of the eight members of a robbery ring, Bo jumped back up to aid the mutual agents called in from the surrounding cities. Bo’s assistance helped the four-hour operation in the Glendora Hills’ containment area cover the robbery ring’s three cars, capture the eight members, five young women and three men, and escort them to the Glendora jail.

Watch Commander Sgt. Barrett said the three-year-old rookie had been on several deployments over the first quarter of 2015 – and this was his first apprehension.

Canine handler, Officer Scott Salvage, said “Bo did a very good job during this critical operation – while thrown curve balls and multiple suspects. Afterwards, Bo is treated normally, and knows that he did what he is supposed to do. He still has a lot to learn while in the field, but the outcome is exactly what we wanted. We treated him to a home-cooked steak dinner with a lot of petting and praise.”

Meanwhile, the  people arrested were reported as April Courtney Stephan, 21 and a babysitter from Los Angeles, Erica Renee Whitson, 23 and a caregiver from Hawthorne, Jeremiah Deandre Mitchell, 25 and a security guard from Los Angeles, and Anthony Tyrone Moore, 34 and a landscaper from Los Angeles; all charged on suspicion of burglary. (Moore was already on parole for burglary.)

Also caught driving in the area, apparently looking for the other four, were Bobby Bolton, 32 and an assistant technician from Los Angeles, Courtney Danielle Adkins, 19 and a food service worker from Los Angeles, Paulette Gordon, 21 and a dancer from Inglewood, and Jasmine Raquel Lawrence, 21 and a transportation worker from Carson; who were all arrested on suspicion of being accessories to burglary.
