TEMECULA – When shots rang out at house party last Friday, a victim suffered from a gunshot wound, and seven suspects were arrested following an investigation.
After receiving a call just before midnight on Friday, April 10th, which reported a shooting at a residence, officers from the Temecula Police Department arrived at the scene to investigate. The officers discovered a raging party that was hosted by a minor while the homeowners were away, on the 30600 block of Pauba Road in Temecula. Police reported that more than 50 partygoers were at the scene, which is located near the Temcula Library.
After police arrived, a victim of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound arrived at a nearby hospital seeking treatment and reporting to have been shot at the party.
Detectives began an investigation into the incident, interviewing subjects who were at the scene and processing evidence related to the shooting. According a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses reported an earlier fight between two groups of people. Following the altercation one of the groups fled, threatening to return armed.
The party continued and at least of these individuals returned in a white pickup truck. They walked back into the party, shouted something and then shot into the crowd.
Temecula Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Special Enforcement and Problem Oriented Policing Teams continued the investigation and were able to identify, locate and arrest several people involved in the shooting. On April 16th, authorities reported arresting the following suspects for conspiracy and attempted murder, booking them into the Southwest Detention Center:
- David Montijo, 21 years, from San Diego
- Keanu Hughes, 18 years, from Temecula
- Racquel Ronae Rangel, 18 years, from Temecula
In addition, one 16-year old and three 17-year-old males were arrested and booked into the Southwest Juvenile Hall for Conspiracy and attempted murder.
