INGLEWOOD, CA—Inglewood’s “downtown” commercial strip, Market Street, is only four very short blocks in length and a stone’s throw from city hall, but it is too often the area of shootouts at the nearby Savoy Entertainment Center, as well as shoplifting at the swap meet-styled Marketplace, and the occasional sensational drug bust.
Gustavo Moreno,19, was busted on Sunday, April 26 at approximately 9:43 p.m. at the corner of Market Street and Manchester, within sight of the mayor’s 9th-story office atop city hall. The Los Angeles resident was charged with 10 violations: carrying a loaded firearm in a public place (25850(A)PC), carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle (25400(A)1PC), ownership of a firearm by a convicted felon (29800(A)1PC), taking a vehicle without owning it (10851(A)VC), evading police officers (2800.1(A)VC), driving without a license (12500(A)VC), failure to stop at a red light (21453(A)VC), failure to stop at a limit line (22450(A)VC), driving at unsafe speeds (22350VC) and driving on the wrong side of the road (21650VC).
