FRESNO – Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man they say has been committing sexual offenses against a young girl for the past eight months.
Detectives arrested 38-year-old Cha Yang of Fresno, who was booked into the Fresno County Jail and faces eight felony counts, including rape and other charges related to child molestation.
On May 5, a staff member at a Fresno Unified School District school told authorities that a girl in her early teens was possibly the victim of sex abuse, prompting an investigation by the sheriff’s office.
Detectives interviewed the girl and determined that a crime had occurred. They attempted to contact Yang at his home, but he was not there. The next morning, Yang turned himself in to the Fresno County Jail. Detectives interviewed him and then placed him under arrest after the investigation revealed that he had been committing sex offenses against the teen for eight months, according to the sheriff’s office.
The case has been submitted to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
