Ventura County – There are certain Rules of Life which must be followed. Among the long list of tips for successfully navigating one’s way through this world are the Rules of Dealing Illegal Drugs, foremost of which is: never be in possession of illegal drugs, narcotics paraphernalia, or surveillance equipment which might be construed as evidence of ongoing illicit drug sale if you know someone who is inclined to stab other people and then rat you out to the cops. It’s just bad for business.
The reality is that when one is engaged in a fight that involves the stabbing of another and a subsequent arrest on charges of criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon, one could face very rigorous prosecution…unless one happens to have information of other crimes to use in negotiating one’s plea deal.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. James Sullivan, on Wednesday, June 10th, Anthony Garcia, a Thousand Oaks resident, was arrested for inflicting “non-life-threatening injuries” on someone he apparently didn’t have great affection for. Garcia had a few conversations with detectives that pointed to narcotics activities among those with whom he was acquainted.
Pursuant to those conversations, on June 18th, Thousand Oaks Major Crimes Detectives and Moorpark Special Enforcement Units arrived at the Thousand Oaks apartment home of Ricardo Hernandez, 41, on Maegan Place with search warrant in hand. At the Hernandez abode, detectives discovered the aforementioned evidence of an active trade in narcotics “located in several hidden compartments within the residence.” Also found in the home—and under the influence of controlled substances—were Ramon Teran, 41, who also lived at the apartment, Elizabeth Ina Velasco, 36 of Fillmore, Brandon Mark Sanders, 25 of Newbury Park, and Kaitiln Sarah Brodie, 25 of Agoura Hills.
All five suspects were taken into custody and booked into Ventura County Jail on charges relating to the use and possession and sale of controlled substances, with bail set for Hernandez at $500,000. Rumor has it that Hernandez will not be putting Mr. Garcia on his Christmas card list.
