The suspect wanted in connection with a May 2013 shooting that left two dead and two others seriously wounded was arrested in Mexico on Saturday. Julio Jesus Romero, 23, was transported back to the United States and was booked into the Kern County Jail on Sunday, June 28, on two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Romero was being sought for a shooting that occurred at a party in the 3700 Block of Columbus Street on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
Officers said that on arrival they had found four victims suffering from various gunshot wounds. Among them were Jose Garcia III and Feliberto Ponce, who both later succumbed to their injuries at a local area hospital.
Two additional victims, 20-year-old Ramon Garza and 20- year-old Reginald Bailey, both from Bakersfield, were also shot and critically wounded by Romero, who fled to Mexico shortly after the incident.
After identifying the shooter as Romero, police obtained a Ramey Warrant for his arrest, which occurred on Saturday June 27, 2015, in Sinaloa Mexico.
