TAFT — A 47-year-old man was arrested last Wednesday after the search of his home in south Taft revealed an estimated $15,000 of suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale.
Brian Brown of Taft was booked into the Taft City Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale and attempting to conceal evidence.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, when deputies arrived at a residence on the 1000 block of Stevens Street in south Taft. As they approached the home deputies said Brown, who was in the front yard, walked towards them, tossing two objects away from him onto the ground.
When deputies entered the yard they recovered the objects and, while searching the property, discovered 10 separate packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately five ounces along with $2,341 in cash and a cellular phone on Brown’s person. All of the items were seized and Brown was taken into custody without incident.
