A woman was arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Rocklin on Saturday night, September 12th. Events unfolded at about 10:40 pm, when two suspects entered a business, which was closing, on the 6000 block of Five Star Boulevard.
According to Rocklin Police, a male and female suspect both armed with handguns stole several items and demanded jewelry, money and the victim’s car keys. The suspects fled the scene in separate cars. The male suspect left in the victim’s gold Mercedes-Benz ML 350, and the female drove away in a black sports utility vehicle.
Rocklin Police were dispatched and quickly arrived on the scene to start their investigation. Information on the suspect’s vehicles, including the victim’s stolen car, was relayed to other local law enforcement agencies and it quickly paid off.
Roseville Police contacted Rocklin PD and informed them that a car matching the description of the SUV had been spotted. Officers responded and a traffic stop was made at Madison and Walnut Avenues in Orangevale, south of Roseville in East Sacramento County.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Inna Pijenko. Officers searched the suspect’s car and found evidence of the robbery. She was arrested at the scene without further incident, and booked into Placer County Jail on several charges including vehicle theft, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, conspiracy and robbery. Her bail amount was set at $50,000.
Two days after Pijenko was arrested, the victim’s stolen Mercedes-Benz ML 350 was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Roseville Road. The car was towed to The Rocklin Police Department Evidence Processing Lab for analysis.
The male suspect in the robbery is still at large. Anyone with any information regarding the robbery is urged to call the Rocklin Police Department.
Pijenko, a resident of northeast Sacramento, was arrested just over a year ago on charges of domestic violence – inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant, and abuse. Further details of that incident were not released.
