Sacramento Teacher Arrested for Sex with Minors

SACRAMENTO–A high school teacher who was arrested last month on suspicion of having sex with a student is now facing additional charges of having sex with another minor.

Inderkum High School math teacher Byron Charles Wallace, 33, was arrested on Friday, October 23. Then, four days later, another student claimed that Wallace had sex with her in 2014 when she was 17 years old and attending the north Natomas area school.

The new charges, filed Monday, November 16 by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, include two counts of intercourse and two counts of oral copulation with a minor under the age of 18.

Wallace’s two previous charges include oral copulation on a minor, rape with a foreign object of a minor, molestation of a minor, and communicating with a minor with the intent to engage in sex.

Police began investigating Wallace last May after the student reported that she had been involved in an intimate relationship him.

“Natomas Unified was not aware of allegations involving any other minor and is saddened to hear of these charges,” according to a statement issued by the district on Monday.

The statement also said that Wallace had not worked in the Natomas Unified School District this school year and had been placed on administrative leave on May 28 when authorities began their investigation. District officials also said they are beginning proceedings to terminate Wallace.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Sacramento Police Department at (916) 264-5471. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a tip of up to $1,000.

Wallace’s bail was increased from $150,000 to $200,000. He posted bond.
