Seaside Police Arrest Robbery Suspect, Second Suspect Still at Large
SEASIDE — Police have arrested one of two suspects in connection to a rash of armed robberies that have plagued the city since early July. Officials have announced the arrest of 36-year-old Rebecca Ogarrio for her part in the robberies.
The other suspect, Ogarrio’s boyfriend, remains at large.
Ogarrio was arrested without incident on July 28th on five counts of armed robbery, following reports from several witnesses who recognized her from surveillance photos released by police.
Meanwhile, authorities are still trying to conclusively verify the identity of the second suspect. When police made contact a few months prior, he’d given his name as Guillermo Sanchez Zeledon and claimed to be 33 years old, although this was not confirmed and may have been an alias.
Both suspects spoke fluently in Spanish while committing the robberies. In the most recent case, Zeledon allegedly held a 4-year-old child at knifepoint and threatened harm to the child if the police were called.
Zeledon is known to frequent Salinas and Monterey Peninsula cities and is considered armed and dangerous.
