PALO ALTO — The Palo Alto Police Department has announced the arrest of a female suspect wanted in the death of 65-year-old Palo Alto resident Jenny Shi, a prominent acupuncturist who was found by a relative stabbed to death in her home on July 7, 2016.
According to the Palo Alto Police Department, “The preliminary investigation revealed that the reporting party was a family member of the victim (but not the same family member arrested this morning), who had gone to the home in an effort to locate Shi and discovered her body inside.”
Homicide investigators gathered evidence at the residence that linked 41-year-old Jingyan Jin of Palo Alto to the stabbing. According to the Palo Alto Police Department, “evidence provided probable cause that the victim’s sister-in-law had committed the homicide.”
According to the Palo Alto Police Department, “Detectives presented the evidence to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, and then obtained a probable cause warrant for the suspect’s arrest.” An autopsy performed by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed Shi had died as a result of her injuries sustained from multiple stab wounds.
Jin was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on October 6, 2016, for homicide.
