BLUE LAKE — On November 4th at around 3 PM, deputies arrived at the 100 block of Rouss Court after receiving a report of a suspicious person hiding a firearm in a bush. The firearm was located and confiscated, but no suspect was found.
As they searched the area, deputies located a white Acura SUV in the roadway on Blue Lake Boulevard and observed a suspect pulling cloth bags of unknown items down the hill and placing them in the vehicle. Once he saw the deputies, he took off on foot.
Additional deputies spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Marty Paul Pack (35), who was found to have two bookable warrants and arrested without incident.
Things then took an interesting turn when a man and a woman approached the deputies while the scene was still active and told them that their home on Acacia Drive had been burglarized. Upon describing what had been stolen, deputies found that the description of these items matched the property in the cloth bags — and the firearm found in the bush. In total, approximately $20,000 worth of property was stolen — and, fortunately, returned.
Pack was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked on his two warrants. A warrant will be issued for the suspect at large pending positive identification.
