Child Daycare Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested, Additional Victims Sought
Daniel Martinez
ANAHEIM – Anaheim PD detectives arrested daycare employee Daniel Martinez (18) of Buena Park on 11/16/16 for a variety of charges, mainly 288a — Lewd Acts — child under 14. The two victims, girls ages six and seven, allegedly experienced inappropriate physical contact at a licensed local facility. Sgt. Jacob Gallacher notes that the additional charges are enhancements due to the victims’ ages, which significantly adds to the list.
Martinez voluntarily met with Anaheim Police Detectives and was booked with a bail set at $1 million, currently in custody at the Orange County Jail.
Sgt. Gallagher told CrimeVoice, “After going through the rosters, and contacting all families of the daycare, we have determined a probable cause to make an arrest. Our job in all of this is to collectively provide the victims the resources they need to be successful in life.”
To assure confidentiality and support, Anaheim PD and Fire and Rescue Sergeant Daron L. Wyatt detailed the expertise and caring support of the Orange County Family Justice Center for safe and confidential assistance provided to survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and elder/dependent adult abuse.
”The multi-agency center works together to make a difference by restoring hope through dedicated trained advocates, on-site partner and support staff., which Anaheim PD has been part of for the last 10 years. What started with the support of grants is now guaranteed by budgeting,” Wyatt noted.
Sgt. Gallagher added, “Our position is to allow this crime to run its course in the criminal justice system. We would encourage anyone with information to please contact Anaheim PD (714) 765-1900. Our concern is the welfare of the children, and to provide the services they need to get back on track, and to get them through this terrible incident.”
