Kidnapper Arrested After Holding Woman & Child at Knifepoint

MT. SHASTA — On March 3 just before 5 PM, police responded to a report of a kidnapping in progress.
The caller said she and her husband were following the kidnapper’s vehicle, in which the suspect held the victim and her child at knife-point and threatened to kill them. The victim was also on the phone with the caller, as she’d used a different phone to call 911 and relay information.
Dispatch relayed locations and direction of travel to officers, who conducted a stop near the intersection of Shasta and Caroline.
It was there that 26-year-old Christopher Reginato was arrested without further incident.
He was booked into the county jail on charges of kidnapping, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, and probation violation.
