Sacamento Man Charged With Four Homicides

SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento man suspected of murdering his wife, two children and a niece last week appeared in court today. Salvador Vasquez-Oliva, 56, listened quietly with his head bowed, as Judge Richard Sueyoshi read the four murder charges.
The victims were discovered on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at a house in the 1100 block of 35th Avenue in Sacramento, and included Angelique Vasquez, 45; her daughter Mia Vasquez, 14; her son Alvin Vasquez, 11; and her niece, Ashley Coleman, 21.The bodies were found by police after a concerned relative called authorities.
Prosecutors alleged that the suspect used a deadly and dangerous weapon to carry out this crime on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. They added special circumstances that Vasquez-Oliva allegedly committed multiple murders. The murder weapon and motive remain unspecified.
The suspect, an office technician at the State’s Employee Development Department (EDD) since 2012, was arrested on Thursday, March 23, 2017, in San Francisco, and is being held without bail at Sacramento County Main Jail. He is slated to return to court on April 18th, 2017 for further arraignment.
