Suspicious Behavior During Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrest
AUBURN — On April 28th just before 11 AM, an officer conducted an enforcement stop after noticing a seatbelt violation.
The officer noticed that the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Ryan Booth of Newcastle, was behaving suspiciously, partially because he was attempting to conceal a hypodermic needle filled with a methamphetamine solution.
He was removed from the vehicle and searched, revealing a set of “shaved” automobile keys, drug paraphernalia, stolen mail, and fraudulent checks. As if that weren’t enough, Booth was also under the influence of a controlled substance.
He was promptly arrested in a multitude of charges: driving while addicted to a drug, driving under the influence of a drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of altered checks, possession of stolen mail with the intent to commit identity theft, and possession of burglary tools.
Booth is housed at the Placer County Jail on $110,000 bail.
