The Madera Police Department have identified and are searching for the suspect in a recent string of armed robberies on businesses in Fresno and Madera County.
According to Madera Police Lt. Gino Chiaramonte, the suspect, 35-year-old John “Johnny” Anthony Barajas (shown above) is considered extremely dangerous, and has a tendency to drag his victims to another location to rob them there at gunpoint.
“During our investigation, we have found that he numerous ties throughout the valley from Sanger to Chowchilla,” Chiaramonte said. “In the investigation, we have identified four robberies that he has been connected to, with many more that are still being investigated with possible ties to.”
Barajas is 5′ 10″ and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He has several distinct tattoos, including a tribal band on his forearm which has been spotted on surveillance camera footage from one of the robberies. He also has his last name written across his back.
Barajas, Chiaramonte stated, was also convicted in 2001 for a felony assault with a deadly weapon, and in 2007 for robbery.
