AUBURN — On July 24th just after 8 AM, officers arrived in Old Town Auburn to investigate a report of a hit-and-run collision.
Not long after, police were also notified of an abandoned vehicle on Auburn Folsom Road and Deerbrooke Trail. They also learned of a suspicious individual who’d been seen on the 700 block of Deerbrooke Trail, claiming to have been shot.
The common denominator between all these reports turned out to be 45-year-old James Marsh of Yuba City.
Officers determined that while they were en route after the first call, Marsh had entered a garage on Deerbrooke Trail and demanded to be let inside, all the while threatening to kill the resident and her grandson.
The resident shut herself inside and Marsh fled.
Officers found him a short time later, at which time he claimed to be a gang member and made death threats against the officer. He also reportedly resisted when officers tried to arrest him, but was ultimately taken into custody without injury.
Marsh is housed at the Placer County Jail and faces charges of burglary, participation in a street gang, robbery, criminal threats, resisting an executive officer, obstruction of justice, and hit-and-run.
His bail rests at $330,000.
