Jose F. Toledo
MARTINEZ – Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputies and Martinez police officers arrested a middle-aged man last week for allegedly seeking nude pictures and sex with a minor.
The suspect began communicating online with an undercover police officer on June 16, who was posing as 13-year-old girl on the internet.
The suspect allegedly made requests inappropriate for any adult to make to a child. First, the man began trying to get the undercover agent to send him nude pictures of a minor “girl.”
Eventually, the suspect arranged an illicit morning meeting with the “girl” outside at a local park for the purposes of having sex, and he promised to bring along some candy.
The suspect, Jose F. Toledo, 43, of Morgan Hill, was arrested at approximately 10 a.m. on July 27, shortly after he arrived at Hidden Lakes Park in Martinez, situated near the intersection of Morello Avenue and Chilpancingo Parkway.
Police recovered candy that he’d promised to bring, along with condoms, and electronic devices from the vehicle that he drove to the park—as evidence against him.
Toledo is charged with attempting a lewd act with a child under 14, and contacting a minor with intent for sex. He’s in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility, with bail for his release set at $2.5 million.
Toledo’s arrest follows an investigation coordinated by the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which works with several police agencies in Contra Costa County.
Investigators from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and the Martinez Police Department all participated in this investigation.
