RICHMOND – Seven suspected members of a criminal gang have been arrested, following an investigation of three murders,14 attempted murders, six armed robberies, two carjacking incidents, several burglaries, and other violent crimes committed in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Richmond police and the Contra Costa County FBI Safe Streets Task Force, which works with local law enforcement agencies, announced the arrests on August 30.
The arrests and indictments stem from a successful investigation, which followed up leads and identified suspects from the Swerve Team gang of North Richmond. A multi-agency investigation coalesced after the Fremont Police Department released surveillance video of a home burglary that occurred in August 2016.
Police from Antioch, Concord, El Cerrito, Pittsburg, along with the California Highway Patrol, and Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office all assisted to smash the gang.
The suspects who were apprehended are linked to numerous crimes committed in Antioch, Berkeley, Brentwood, Danville, Fremont, Livermore, Orinda, Pinole, Pittsburg, Richmond, Rodeo, and San Pablo.
Suspected gang members arrested include Jermaine Hicks, 25, charged with murder, who’s in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility, with bail denied.
Bobby Ray Williams, 21, is being held in lieu of $4.7 million bond at the Martinez Detention Facility, charged with conspiracy to commit crime, conspiracy to commit a felony by a gang member, robbery, burglary, carjacking, and violation of parole.
Four 20-year-olds, Tarell Brown, Ronald Fluker, Marrico Williams and Tommie Woods, are each charged with burglary, carjacking, conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a felony by a gang member, and first-degree robbery.
Brown, Williams and Woods are all being held at the Martinez Detention Facility (while Fluker is in custody at the West County Detention Facility), with bail set at $2.3 million, except for Woods whose bail was set higher at $2.5 million.
Torion Young, 19, is charged with carjacking, conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a felony by a gang member, contempt by disobeying a court order, first-degree burglary, and first-degree robbery. Bail for his release from the county jail in Martinez was set at $2.3 million.
