FOLSOM // 20-year-old Johnathan James Stoltz-Moore of Cameron Park is in hot water after assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop on Wednesday, September 13.
Just after 8 AM, an officer on a motorcycle stopped Stoltz-Moore on US-50 near Hazel for a traffic violation. During the stop, Moore reportedly “didn’t have a license and gave false information about his identity.”
For safety reasons, Moore was asked to take the off-ramp to a nearby gas station.
As Moore drove and the officer followed, Moore hit the brakes on his car hard enough to lock the tires, causing the officer to collide with the car’s rear and fall to the ground. Moore then fled the area.
Police believe Moore caused the crash to prevent himself from being arrested, as it was later learned that he had a felony arrest warrant out of El Dorado County for “being a felon in possession of a firearm.”
Moore was tracked to an address in Cameron Park and tried to run, but a K9 officer put a quick stop to it. He was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail “on suspicion of assault on a Peace Officer resulting in injury, hit-and-run, evading police causing injury, giving false identifying information, violation of probation, and resisting arrest.”
