Quarry shooter killed self, says coroner
The man suspected of going on a deadly shooting spree last week in Cupertino and Sunnyvale died by his own hand, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Shareef Allman, 48, allegedly killed three co-workers and wounded six more people on a violent rampage that resulted in a 24-hour manhunt last Wednesday and Thursday.
Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Capt. Kevin Jensen said that while there were multiple wounds in Allman’s body, the actual kill shot was a single gunshot wound to the head. Jensen said there was stippling at Allman’s temple indicating that the shot was self-inflicted.
“There were other wounds in the body as well,” Jensen said, adding that the coroner determined the shot to the head to be the one that killed Allman.
Two Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave following the shooting. It is unknown if they will be reinstated to active duty or if they will remain on leave until the full coroner’s report is completed. That process will take several weeks, Jensen explained.
