After 17 years, 2 Charged with Man’s Murder

SAN BERNARDINO — When deputies from the Fontana station of the SBSD arrived to a road near Lytle Creek on March 3, 2000, they discovered the body of a male who had been shot to death. He was identified as 32-year-old Timothy Morris.

Investigators began looking into the incident.  They determined that Morris was living with his cousin, Carmen Worthy.  In addition, they discovered that brothers John and Brad McKinney also stayed at Worthy’s residence for a few days that month.

John McKinney was contacted and arrested for an outstanding warrant. Although identified as a potential suspect, there was not enough evidence to charge him with the murder.

In the passage of time the case went cold, and the murder remained unsolved.

This year the case was re-investigated.  Two detectives traveled to Texas, interviewed Worthy, now 40 years old, and then arrested her for the murder and returned her to San Bernardino on October 20. Her bail has been set at $1 million.

Investigators also traveled to Illinois to interview John McKinney, 41, and also arrested him for his part in the murder. He has yet to return to California.
