FAIRFAX – A middle-age woman is facing criminal charges involving a ride on the wild side—through downtown Fairfax and a city park while being pursued by the police—but her driving companion remains at large.
Police officers responded to a call on October 24 about two suspicious persons seen outside an apartment building on the 2500 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
The caller reported that the suspects were checking parked cars for unlocked doors, and provided the license plate number of the vehicle that the suspects were driving.
Minutes later, police received a second report that a woman had stolen a vehicle, but the owner was able to intervene and recover the vehicle, prompting her to flee to a waiting car. Their descriptions and getaway car matched what was reported in the first call.
The woman allegedly drove towards the owner in a threatening manner, before she abandoned the stolen car—ran to another car waiting nearby, and fled.
Responding officers located and pursued the car carrying the two suspects, which was being driven by a man, and the woman was a passenger.
The driver sped through downtown and across a popular park amongst people there, but no one was reported injured. Eventually the driver lost control of the vehicle on Bolinas Road.
The man and woman fled from the vehicle, but police quickly caught and arrested Precious D. Marshall, a 40-year-old Richmond resident. Police pursued the man, but he got away—for now.
Marshall is being held at Marin County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond, on charges for vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to cause great bodily harm, and possession of stolen property. Marshall is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on November 6. She was previously arrested 12 times on a variety of charges.
