Modesto PD investigating hit-and-run collision on Tully Road (UPDATE)

(UPDATE — Jan. 12): Modesto PD has identified the victim as 66-year-old Gregory Henderson.
MODESTO // Police are currently investigating a hit-and-run collision that killed a man on Tully Road this morning, January 10th.
At around 5:30 AM, a jogger called police to report a sleeping man blocking the entrance of Big Valley Church. Responding officers checked on him and found that he was unresponsive, with visible injuries to his body. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation determined that the man, who appears to have been in his 60s or 70s, had been walking the east side of Tully Road when struck by a vehicle travelling northbound. The vehicle was long gone by the time officers arrived.
As the investigation moves forward, traffic investigators report that they are on the lookout for a 2001-03 black Honda Civic with major front end and passenger damage, likely including the windshield.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of family.
