Lawyer Pleads No Contest to Grand Theft, Forgery

LOS ANGELES – 60-year-old La Verne lawyer Mark Haddon pleaded no contest on Wednesday to grand theft and forgery charges. He is accused of stealing settlement money from one of his clients in December of 2014.

The client reportedly won a settlement of $50,000, but Haddon allegedly forged the client’s signature on the settlement documents and then told him it was for $40,000.

The three misdemeanor counts were: grand theft of property, identity theft, and forgery.

Haddon was ordered to serve four days in jail, three years of probation, and payment to the victim of the entire amount of $12,000 owed to him.
