SAN FRANCISCO // Police have arrested a Stockton man for battery after he allegedly attacked a woman and put her in a choke hold at a store in San Francisco on January 14th.
Officers from Northern Station responded to a business on the 800 block of Turk Street just before 9:30 AM, having been alerted by dispatch that a man had attacked a female store clerk. They learned that the suspect — identified as 30-year-old Brian Keithe Holste — had entered the store, grabbed the 29-year-old woman by the neck, and began to choke her.
Witnesses found the two lying on the floor, Holste holding the woman in a choke hold, and were able to free her. Holste then fled the store and was later found sitting on the steps of a building on the 800 block of Franklin Street.
After being directed to his whereabouts by witnesses, responding officers placed him under arrest without further incident.
The victim told officers that Holste had bought something from the store about 20 minutes earlier and, upon returning, immediately attacked her without provocation. He has since been booked into the San Francisco County Jail for aggravated assault and burglary.
