SAN RAFAEL — Police are seeking a third person suspected of being involved in a pair of weekend robberies, following the arrests of two other suspects who were apprehended on March 31.
The first robbery occurred Saturday morning at the Marin Ace Hardware at 180 Merrydale Road, where a store employee pursued suspected tool thieves outside to a parking lot until they drove away. The employee later provided police with a description of their getaway car, and its license plate number.
While responding officers were searching for the suspects, a police dispatcher received a call about another robbery at the Smart & Final Extra grocery store, which is located three miles away at 935 Andersen Drive.
An employee intervened attempting to prevent the theft of some meat, before the suspects drove away; albeit not fast enough to prevent the employee from getting a good look at their vehicle.
The descriptions of the vehicle used in both robberies matched. Officers soon located and followed it over the Richmond San Rafael Bridge.
After entering Richmond, the driver stopped near a gas station located at 901 West Cutting Boulevard. The occupants abandoned the vehicle but only two suspects were caught and arrested.
Zeteic D. Roberts, 40 of Richmond, was booked at Marin County Jail, charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property, robbery, and violation of probation.
The second suspect, Neomi Shortridge, 49 of Richmond, is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, but is no longer in custody. The third suspect remains at large.
